Questions for our WTF appt

Our appointment is on Thursday at 3pm. Here is my list of questions. Tarzan has not reviewed yet. I plan to email this list to my doctors in the morning so they have it a day ahead of time. Any suggestions for more questions to add?

1. Is there a test to see if I am producing an antibody or something that is killing embryos?
2. Why wouldn’t at least one of those 3 embryos at least attempted to implant and result in even a chemical pregnancy?
3. If those 3 embryos would have been blasts on Day 5, then when would they have died?
4. The one which ended up making it to freeze was a morula on day 5 – so why not transfer a morula, or wait until Day 6 to transfer?
5. You say your success rate is 60%, but on your website through March 2008 you had a donor success rate of 73.3%? So the stats after that really declined to end up at 60% now?
6. How many of your DE cycles make it to day 5 transfers? What is the success rate for those?
7. How many of your DE cycles make it to day 3 transfers? What is the success rate for those?
8. Of the DE cycles that fail – why do they fail?
9. Of the DE cycles that fail – are they usually first time donors?
10. Does my age have anything to do with this failure?
11. You agree that had Eggchick applied to be an anonymous donor, she would have been selected based on her lab work, hormone levels, etc.?
12. Embryo quality – ours appears to have sucked rotten eggs. Why? Is it the egg? Is it the sperm? If it is the egg, are you saying Eggchick will have fertility issues herself so it’s a good thing she is having children at a young age?
13. How can we test to see if the sperm has a genetic problem?
14. Would she have had more follicles on a non Lupron protocol?
15. Was there any indication while she was cycling (hormone levels, etc.) that her egg quality was going to be bad?
16. How can we find what I would call a super donor – who can give us 25 eggs, so we end up with 15 super great quality embryos?
17. Did something go wrong in the lab?
18. Why only 9 mature eggs out of 15 retrieved? She was only on stims for 8 days, did you trigger her too early?
19. Based on the fact that 6 other embryos died, what realistically do you think the chances that the frozen one is any better quality?
20. Can you explain the embryo grading – day 3 as well as our frozen blastocyst.
21. Should I have not eaten any dairy?
22. Should I have taken baby aspirin?
23. When you left your voicemail about the frozen embryo – you said it had an 80% chance of making a baby. In your email today you say frozen embryos have a 70% chance of surviving the thaw process, and then a 40% chance of making a pregnancy. Where did the 80% go?
24. Can we have our frozen embryo transferred to another clinic if we choose to do a FET elsewhere?
25. What do you know about the University of Michigan fertility clinic?

Excellent questions; I think you have some valid concerns. Personally, I'm curious to hear what they say about possible sperm issues because it makes sense that--like eggs--there could be problems that cannot be seen or measured unless they are specifically tested (thus destroying it in the process).

I know it will be a tough appointment for you and I'll be praying for you both.

Have you not had your ANA checked? One of my problems was anticardiolipid antibodies and did indeed prevent implantation. You have some very good questions...esp about the asprin.
