Sunday

Yesterday was a fun day. Tony and I went to his parent's house to celebrate his father's 64th birthday which is actually tomorrow. Tony's brother Gianni and wife and kids were there, so we had a fun time playing with them. Today is actually Tony's parents' 40th wedding anniversary. They are celebrating with a romantic trip up north, and then we'll celebrate as a family next weekend with a dinner out. They didn't want a big party at a hall because lately they have been going to a million parties in the Italian community - weddings, showers, baptisms - they are all at big, fancy halls and so they are a bit tired of that. Today is actually our 21st month wedding anniversary! We try to see who will remember on the 4th of each month. Today it was Tony who remembered first and he called me from work to tell me Happy Anniversary! ha ha.

Oh and mom - sorry that I missed the family reunion yesterday, I'll go next year, I promise!

After lunch with his family yesterday, we drove around and went to a newer neighborhood where the builder has the last 2 spec homes for sale. The first one we went through was 4300 square feet, empty, with neutral tan walls, and cream trim all over, awesome granite and wrought iron lighting. The master bathroom was to die for - with a powder room for my gobs of makeup and girly products, and a huge his and her closet, with the "her" closet being 3 times the size of the "his" one. It had an unfinished walk-out basement with a fireplace, a brick paver patio, and then a deck off of the kitchen. Anyway, gorgeous home.

We then stopped by the other one left for sale at the beginning of the sub which was a model home, so it's all decorated, furnished, etc. It was 4100 square feet, but had a completely finished basement with a granite wet bar, a theatre room with a big screen, full bathroom, exercise room, and more. So the square footage is probably more like 6000 with the basement. The home was decorated in French Country. It felt like a castle with super tall ceilings, a chandelier as big as me, gorgeous window treatments (yes girls I was drooling over the drapes), and several of the rooms were wallpapered. I really like that style, but I could tell that Tony was very overwhelmed - it was a bit too busy for him. The landscaping was absolutely incredible, not sure if you can tell in the picture. The price they are selling these homes for is absolutely unbelievable. We went through this neighborhood a year ago and went through a different model, but at the time all of the homes were well over the $1 million mark. Today they are priced at 40% less - absolutely amazing buys. Now granted, they are still out of our budget, but it sure was fun to fantasize about living in a place like that, if just for a day! Tony and I were tempted to have his parents to sell their home so we could all move in together into one of these dream homes! ha ha.

Well, if we could ever scrape together the money for the mortgage there'd be no money left to pay the electricity bill! Can you imagine the cost to heat and cool such a place????

I love all the parties, drinking, eating, laughing in Italian families.

Oh my gosh, the second one looks just like the house we're building next year. NOT! ;) I do love the waterfall...

It's fun to go through model houses, even if they are out your price range. We've gotten a lot of neat ideas that way for the house we are actually going to build.

Nice but I'd hate to have to clean them.

Best of luck on the donor search. I feel a bit weird that I get to know all about them and they don't get to know anything about us.

It's so much fun to look at houses you can't afford - I love looking online and thinking about what I could do if I lived in one of them. Like have half my family come live with me. Or adopt a million children. Or get a miniature horse for the backyard.

Oh girl you have me drooling with those homes! Isn't it just crazy with the icky MI economy what you can get some homes for now vs just a year or two ago? I'm glad you guys had a nice weekend and happy 21st month anniversary! Thanks for the kind words - I'm back at home and things have quieted down a bit. Just settling back in and am going to watch Weeds - and hopefully that will be the most exciting thing for awhile. Hope you guys are doing well, and that the 40th anniv dinner is a lot of fun :-)
