The Raffle - I didn't win the IVF cycle, but.....

I won a "Date Night Gift Basket" worth $100 (gift card for dinner, movies, movie rentals, popcorn, a candle, and a nice basket) at the Resolve Seminar last night. Winning the gift basket resulted in me meeting two fellow bloggers IRL!!!! Oh my gosh, it was so exciting! As I was leaving at the end of the evening (after I lost the IVF cycle raffle...bummer!!!), a woman came up to me and asked me if she could ask me a question. I said "sure" and she said "do you have a blog"? I said yes and I got this twinkle in my eye, like "omg someone recognizes me from my blog". She said "are you.....", and I said "I'm Soapchick". She said "I knew it, I'm Emily from Apron Strings for Emily. So we stood there for 5-10 minutes jabbering away at how cool it was that we met a fellow blogger!!! Apparently she had thought I might be Soapchick when she heard them announce my city (Oakland Township) and I walked up to claim my prize. I met her husband Roberto too and we had a great few minutes sharing our stories in nano speed. But wait - it gets better!

1 hour earlier after the adoption talk had ended and we all headed into the Dessert/Coffee/Raffle room, I sat next to another woman who was there by herself (sans husband as was I). She said her name was Casey (that's how I spelled it in my head). We chatted for a few and shared our stories briefly. Eventually our table filled up with other women and then my doctor - Dr. M sat down as the expert at our table. I wasn't even paying attention to the table number I sat at, I just wanted to sit near Casey since we were among the few women attending without spouses. However having Dr. M at my table allowed me to ask him for a free consultation for another blogger friend of mine - you know who you are! Sorry I digressed, back to my story. Casey excused herself and went to visit another expert at a different table. The raffle occurred, the event ended, and I headed for the door. I ran into Emily as described above.

Emily mentions that there is another blogger here named Casey. I said "hey wait a minute I met a Casey earlier, she was at my table". Well come to find out Casey is KC from Becoming a Different Person. I was just all excited meeting 2 bloggers in one night, as a total surprise. I went to the bathroom before my half hour drive home and when I came out, KC was there so I was able to re-introduce myself to her as a blogger and we said our good nights. I left there just so happy! The seminar was great, I learned a lot of valuable information, and I was "discovered".....I'm famous because of my blog!! ha ha ha ha. Emily and KC are two wonderful women and I hope we get to meet IRL again soon!

Hey There Kelly!

I agree that is was so cool meeting some fellow bloggers in real life finally! I just think it is so crazy that we just happened to start chatting to begin with and then didn't find out until later that we were both bloggers! Ha Ha!

But I definitely need to catch up on your blog. I know you mentioned at the meeting that your last IVF didn't work, but geez, I didn't realize it was so recent. I'm so sorry! You are brave for even being able to come to a meeting like that so soon after a disappointment like that.

Ok, this is turning into a novel comment but I just wanted to say hey again!

I also wanted to say to everyone else how sweet Kelly is in real life. I was sitting at a table all by myself (sans husband, like she said) and she saw me alone and she immediately sat with me and started chatting. She was just so warm and friendly! I can see why she is such a popular blogger!

Wouldn't it be so fun to get all the Michigan bloggers together for dinner or something?

Blogging does bring a certain celebrity/notoriety to our lives.

Woo-hoo! I'm officially stalking you now! :-)

Can't tell you enough how wonderful it was to meet you!! I'm with KC here, we should plan for a MI night out so we can chat some more!

I meant to ask you, do you ever go to any of the Resolve support groups? I know they have one closer to your side of town and I think KC and I mentioned about going to one of them one day. If we do, perhaps we can grab a drink afterwards!

Okay, I'll quit stalking you ... for now! ;-)

i think it's cool that you've got a community of "live" people with whom you can share. aside from my blog and those who i've connected with here...i really feel alone in this process. anyway, enjoy your night out!

Congrats on your win. I am glad (and a little jealous) that you got to meet some of your fellow bloggers in real life... I would definitely think about it if I ran across another San Diego person.
