Moving Closer to DE

Hubby and I had our talk on Sunday night about the various options for bringing home a baby. To make a long story short, we both agreed that donor eggs is our next step. We talked about adoption, but for some reason I am just not there emotionally at this time. Maybe someday I will be ready for adoption, but right now I'm not. We know there is a risk of the DE IVF not working, but we hope by selecting a proven donor we will have a high chance of success.

Before we put down our $2000 non-refundable deposit we are going to speak with a counselor to discuss things like "whether or not to tell our child, when to tell the child, what to tell the child, etc". The counselor and I are playing phone tag but hopefully we'll schedule an appt. with her soon. The next thing to figure out is the best way to pay for it. I still have a little bit of insurance left so I will be covered for my ultrasounds and the embryo transfer. Hubby may be getting a couple of job offers so we are going to wait a few weeks to see if any of those have infertility coverage with their insurance plans. I told him it was unlikely that they would cover DE ivf, but it is worth waiting a couple of weeks just to see. If not then the rest will be out of pocket and we'll have to dip into our savings. Which is fine, but gosh it is going to hurt to write a check that big!

So much for getting a deck this summer, that's out the question now. We are the only one in the neighborhood who doesn't have a deck. We're supposed to have one because our house is elevated and so if you walked out the kitchen sliding glass door you would fall 10 feet. Needless to say we don't go out that door, ha ha. Maybe next year we'll have a baby and so we'll have to get a deck!

Yay! I'm so glad he is on board with the donor eggs. It seems like he has come a long way in the past few months. I finally caught up with your older posts!

I am so excited that you get to try something new! Hopefully the wait to find a donor will not take too long!

Kelly, I am so glad he is on board with this! I hope you have to get a deck next summer! (I am cracking up at my imagined visuals from your deck-less door, btw.)

Oh, I'm so happy you are both moving in the same direction. The thing I love best about DE is the odds.

If you ever have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I had this terrible vision of you stepping out of your door and falling like a cartoon character would! Hoping you have every reason to have a deck next summer!~

That sounds like great news! You guys seem to have a great relationship the way you can always talk and get through things, I'm glad you have a great support system for each other. And as far as the deck, yeah please don't go out that door quite yet :-)

I have my fingers crossed that DE does the trick for the two of you, it's a big expensive-sounding decision.

Hoping nobody falls off that deck-less door!

Thank you for the comment on my blog today, it has been a rough one.

I am so glad that you guys have agreed upon a direction. Deck-shmeck it is worth the wait.

I'm so pleased your husband is good with the DE idea. It's good to be moving forward together.

I know how it feels to dip into your savings. We've spent about £30,000 of our money getting this far. It's worth every penny, but we really notice it.

I love your blog and I love your honesty. We are doing the International adoption right now but plan on working for a bio baby ASAP!
