Insurance Figured Out!

Good news is that with Cigna Open Access Plus at Tony's new job - we will have a lot of coverage. The bad news is that, as I expected, they don't cover the donor's procedures. If I were a couple of years younger I'd be tempted to do a couple more rounds of IVF with my own eggs because we have a $20,000 lifetime limit of coverage - which is 3x the $ amount I have with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Unfortunately my doctor doesn't take Cigna, so we'll have to pay up front and then submit for reimbursement. However even though he is out of network, Cigna will still cover 70%. Now I still have some coverage on BCBS left too, so between the 2 of them, we'll get quite a bit of help. I can also apply for an In-Network Transition of Care Exception with Cigna, which if they give me the exception, then we'll get 90% reimbursed. It's worth a shot. Oh and they will cover the cost of the drugs too. Awesome! So we are probably looking at about $12,000 out of pocket, and about $8000 covered by insurance - not bad at all. I'm sure Tony will be disappointed that the donor's procedures aren't covered, but that is pretty standard from what I've seen.

Since we are getting all of this figured out, I'm going to go forward with my mock cycle. CD 1 should be Thursday.

What a relief I would feel! Yay for mock cycle starting, just one step closer to the real thing and even closer to a real live baby!

So exciting!!!

I know it would be better if you were able to get more coverage, but it's better than nothing!

You're getting so close!

That sounds good to me! I can't even bare the thought of tallying how much we've spent up to this point.

Looking forward to hearing about the selection process...or do they match you?

Yay! I'm glad the insurance didn't turn out to be complete bunk. I hope CD1 gets here right on time!

That is great news! Insurance sure makes the sting of IF a little bit less.

That's such good news.

The mock cycle's exciting too! Why are you doing one?
Is it because the donor procedure is different?

Hooray for insurance!! This is exciting. More exciting than Italy's game the other night. Is Mr. A thrilled or what that Italy made it to the play offs?
