Trip Up North

On Sunday Tarzan and I went up north for a couple of days. "Up North" for you non-Michiganders is Northern Michigan. My dad has a cottage up there in a town called Waters (I don't think it is even a town) on 25 acres in the woods, and there are a lot of great cities to visit up north and on the coast. We stayed with my dad and my aunt Mary, cousin Susie and her 3 kids came over (unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them). Susie and her husband own a farm and it's always fascinating to hear about life on the farm. They have cows, pigs, horses, chickens, and they plant all sorts of grains as well. Maybe someday we will buy a 1/4 cow from them - if we ever get a freezer in the garage. The best part of the weekend was seeing a bald eagle - read below.

More from Harbor Springs - yes it was a bit chilly:

Tarzan in front of a monster truck in Petoskey:

On our way back from Petoskey - we saw a Bald Eagle perched in a tree. I said to Tarzan "hey I just saw an eagle" - he didn't believe me and I said "yes white head, brown body, huge bird", so we turned around and went back. We found it. We observed it in all its majesty for several minutes. Unfortunately our camera couldn't get close enough, but you get the idea. It actually looked much closer in person and it was huge. It looks so small in this picture, but the gorgeous bird was 3 feet tall. I think we were maybe 40 feet away. Tarzan even honked the car so he could see it fly, but it didn't move. It just stared at us. Maybe it had a nest nearby.

Love the pictures!! So weird, my parents were at their cottage on Torch and my mom saw an eagle as well, she said it was scaring all the ducks and forcing them to hide under their dock!!

You're certainly bundled up for May. We are sweating down here and will do so through August!

It looks like you had so much fun! Mike and I went to Petosky and Charlevoix last summer and it was a lot of fun! We have some very similar pics from our trip...ha ha!

So glad you are recovered from your surgery!!! Looks like a fun weekend. Lexington looks cool! I'll have to convince Mike that we should visit there someday!
