F@#k Cancer!!!

My dear friend Anne just called me with the news that she just found out 20 minutes ago that she has breast cancer! Pardon my french, and please forgive me God - but WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! FUCKIN BULL SHIT CANCER! I HATE YOU CANCER! GO FUCK YOURSELF AND DIE DAMNABIT!!!!

Anne is my closest friend in the entire world and I am privileged to have her in my life. She's the one I wrote about here when she had the bike accident. We don't know anything about treatment plan, if it has spread, etc. tomorrow she goes to find out more. Her mother had breast cancer as a young woman and is a survivor. My mother had breast cancer as an older woman, and is a survivor. Anne you will survive and thrive too! She is pulling her posse together to help her over the next several months - I got your back baby.

Anne and I are celebrating our 40th birthdays next week come hell or high water! Mine is on the 9th and hers is 2 weeks later on the 23rd. We are checking into the Royal Park Hotel on Friday Sept. 12th for a fancy evening of dinner, drinking wine, and having a slumber party in a freakin fantastic hotel! Then the next day we are getting massages and then having lunch at a Tea House in Rochester.

Life is full of surprises, and honestly this is why I refuse to let infertility bring me down. If I don't ever have kids, oh well, there are many other things I do have in my life that I value. I refuse to waste my life away being depressed about not being a mom because life is short and you never know when the rug will be pulled out from under you. Life is to be enjoyed, not spent regretting what you don't have. Enjoy what you do have!

Anne is the blond bombshell right behind me in this wedding shot. Prayers are welcome.

Kelly, please let Anne know that she will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure she is really glad to have a kick ass friend like you to kick cancer's ass with.
And the birthday weekend sounds awesome!

I'm so sorry about your friend.

I also have a close friend - who i've known since school who turned 40 in July and who has been having chemo for breast cancer. It blows you away.

Wishing her well.x

I'm so sorry Kelly, I'll be praying for Anne. I hope she will come out of this healthier than ever and you two will celebrate many more birthdays together!

I wish I could say I don't know how horrible it is to have cancer touch your life, but I'm facing that reality too. It really sucks.

So your sentiment to F@#k Cancer!!! is right on.

Lots of prayers for Anne - I am so sorry that this is happening. But I am hopeful that she will get through this, especially with the love and support of people like yourself around her. ((hugs))

As you may or may not know, I'm an oncologist... and I spend over half my time treating patients with breast cancer!

Every day, MOST of the patients that I see are survivors. It can be a big battle or a relatively small one, but a LOT of people are CURED.

It will of COURSE depend on the specific characteristics of the tumor, and whether it has spread to lymph nodes or anywhere farther, but at this point, knowing nothing else, her chances may be very good.

You can count me in agreement to say "F*&k Cancer," though!
