Happy Blogoversary to me!

Yep it's been a year since I started this blog. Wow time flies. Unfortunately I don't have time to ponder everything that has happened over the past year, plus I have a headache, so this is going to be quick. I'm off to Mexico City on Monday for work - come back Friday night! I should have internet access at my hotel! TTYL.

I’ve been considering posting a comment to your blog for a while now. I’m a fellow Michigander who has also dealt with infertility, in fact for the entire length of my marriage of 18 years, so I know what you are dealing with from that perspective.

Have you considered Snowflakes adoption rather than donor eggs? I understand your desire to carry a child, I wanted my own children too, but it was not to be.

I understand that you are feeling punished by God and/or the Church with regards to the Church’s position on IVF and donor eggs, but consider the matter from another perspective.

I’m confident that you and your husband will have your children’s best interests at heart and will create household rules to protect them. For younger kids they won’t be allowed to choose to eat only candy and pick their own bedtimes for example, though given the option they most likely would do so. As the parent with greater information and their best interests at heart you won’t permit that.

Consider the fatherhood of God from the perspective of greater information and love for his children. He knows better than we do the pitfalls of life and via the Holy Spirit guides the church to keep his children in the safety zone.

Consider the outcome of Abraham’s decision to have a child with Hagar after God promised he would have a child with Sara. Abraham & Sara decided to “help God out” since she didn’t conceive right away and she was older than dirt, and Sara’s maid Hagar had Ishmael with Abraham. I’m sure you know that Ishmael is the father of the Muslim peoples and of course we all know what kind of family feud is raging all these millennium later as a result of Abraham & Sara’s decision to use a surrogate.

I realize that my perspective may be very unwelcome, and I appreciate your time in reading this comment. I would just ask that you spend some time in prayer and learning a bit more about the Church’s position on IVF & surrogacy before you move forward with donor eggs.

Thanks, Anne Marie
