I turned in my donor "require and desire" list yesterday along with my deposit! The donor coordinator nurse called me back that evening and said she have some profiles to me via email sometime today! I think she'll send us one at a time, and if we reject it she'll send us another.
Tony just wanted to amend my requirements list a bit and he added "Italian ethnicity"......never mind that I don't have an ounce of Italian in me. He figures since I'm a self-proclaimed mutt (and he hates when I say I'm a mutt), we might as well shoot for a child who can proudly say they are 100% Italian. Okay whatever you say darling. Unfortunately I talked to the nurse after I gave them the check and she already told me they don't have a lot of Italian donors. Oops, maybe I should have asked that question before I gave them the non-refundable check. I will ask her today what happens if we reject all of their donors, but then find one ourselves somewhere, does our $ deposit count toward the medical testing of an outside donor.
I'm confident that my clinic will be able to find a donor who has the majority of our other requirements, so we'll see. You never know, I could actually be matched by the end of this week! Let the games begin.
Oh and I forgot to tell you on Sunday that we almost got a speeding ticket. We were returning from a graduation party in Dearborn, and I just said to Tony "be careful there's a cop", but it was too late. He pulled us over on I-75 and said he clocked Tony going 91. Yikes! The funny thing is that the first thing out of Tony's mouth was "Sorry Officer I was just trying to get over to the exit", and the policeman said "Officer no, I'm a State Trooper".......ooh aah, we should bow down in homage to the State Trooper. Anyway, due to Tony's stellar driving record, Mr. Trooper let him off. Whew! Major relief because that would've been a $200 ticket at least!
***UPDATED*** - Received our first donor profile to review this afternoon. Tony and I will read over the 14 page document tonight, but at first glance it looks pretty good!

I would say "what a jerk" but he let Tony off with no ticket, so...but still, what should Tony have said instead? "Sorry, State Trooper?"
I can't wait to hear how things go in the next few weeks with your potential donors...this is so exciting! :)
Congratulations on moving forward with the donor search-very exciting news! As far as your run-in with the "State Trooper"-UGH. I'm with Tracy; the guy sounds like a jerk.
Iloved your pictures of your Port Austin/Caseville trip. I love the thumb area and always have a great time when we make it up there for a few days! Good luck on the cottage auction! Scott and I keep trying to find a way to snag a deal up there, too!
Icky state trooper- but yay for no ticket! I second what tracy said about wondering if he expected a sorry state trooper? That is such exciting news about getting the donor information - how awesome. Alright - you have to teach me girl...what exactly does the donor packet contain? Is it all personal information? 14 pages sounds really detailed - I had no idea you had so much to go through. But I really hope one of the first ones work out and meets all of your criteria so you guys can continue moving forward with smooth sailing. Then you can work on getting one of those cute cottages so I can come visit with ya, just kidding! (Well, no presssure - right?) Awww, I'm just really excited for you both about this moving forward already - it's so exciting!
This is so exciting. Thank you for documenting this experience and sharing it all. I am very curious as to what Tony says about the details of these 14 pages! Have fun and good luck.
Best Wishes with your donor search. Thanks for sharing the great pictures of your recent trip, the picture of you and Tony is wonderful.
Yay! I'm glad you had such a good weekend - the pictures were great.
How exciting about the donor - I'm glad Tony got his butt in gear (though I'm cracking up on the Italian thing). I hope you get a kick ass donor quickly!
