Great weekend, just what I needed

Friday morning we loaded up the convertible that Tony got for the weekend and headed to our friends' Angie and Tim in Grand Rapids.

Friday was spent BBQing, taking naps in a chair on the deck, and then doing fireworks at Angie's parents house a few miles away. We ate way too much, but Angie's German potato salad was to die for! I should've taken a picture of that!

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed to the beach at Saugatuck! An absolutely gorgeous area of Michigan. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at the beach. My husband took another nap

Here is baby Luke and his mom Angie. He is 7 months old and is wearing 24 months size clothes. He is soooooooo tall that he is off the charts. He is such a sweet baby too, never fusses, just goes with the flow. I want a baby just like him!

Here a picture of our friend Tim holding Luke and his son Trevor playing on the side. Trevor is such a nice young man, so well behaved and very respectful. I hope I can raise my kids to turn out the same way!

After our day at the beach we went to downtown Douglas and had lunch at the Wild Dog Grille. Hmmm, it was really yummy. Then we walked in a few cute shops, the best one was this awesome children's book store. I bought a book called "The Chocolate Cat"; I have quite the collection of children's books already - in English, Spanish and Italian. Now I just need the kid - ha ha.

We left Douglas and went to downtown Saugatuck which was bustling with thousands of people walking the shop laden streets, and a ton of huge yachts. I think all the rich people from Chicago must summer in Saugatuck. Angie and I did some wine tasting, and I bought a bottle of Spiced Peach & Honey wine from the Fenn Valley winery, only available in Saugatuck. Yummy!! I think a return trip to Saugatuck is in order for a girls weekend, in fact it may be a great place to celebrate my 40th birthday in September!!

We drove home late Saturday night, much to my and Angie's disappointment. However Sunday was a fun day as well. We drove around in the convertible and visited my friend Anne, went to see Tony's sister's new condo, and then later had dinner with his sister, brother, sister-in-law and our adorable niece and nephew. Fabulous weekend that was much needed. Now it's back to work!

You are killing me with that scarf and the convertible! Movie star quality, my dear!
I'm glad you had such a great weekend! (Though I do have to ask...does your husband know you are posting half naked pictures of him for the whole internets to see? Hehe.)

Gorgeous pics! And I love the Saugatuck area ... actually, any place West Coast (Michigan, that is ... not California, although I love it there too) is beautiful. Glad you had a wonderful weekend!

What a wonderful weekend.

I love your scarfed up Hepburn-esque look in the car. Gorgeous! That beach also looks wonderful. I do wish i lived somewhere that the sun shone more than once a month!

Wine tasting sounds great too.

xx

Love the car and you look so stylin sitting in there! Your pictures made me smile and so wishing that I was on the west side of the state as well. My hairdresser spent last weekend there as well with his wife - they go every year and love it. Growing up we spent every 4th of July weekend in Ludington - and my parents went this year as well. I'd love to get back there next year. I'm so glad you had a nice time and the photos are to die for!

Doesn't just sitting in the sun in a convertible make everything better? I had that exact car (except candy apple red), but sadly it sat under 8 feet of water in our driveway after the floods post Katrina. And stupid me opted to get something more family friendly when we replaced it. Ugh. Still kicking myself about that one.

Glad you had such a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, I was in Saugatuck all weekend. I probably passed you on the street. I was the girl with the big ice cream cone always in her hand! I wish I had known you would be there, I would have met up with you!
