Donor Update

We may, I repeat "may" have a donor. I gave up on trying to convince Tarzan to use the less expensive, but thoroughly screened donors at our clinic. He met his deadline of this weekend for making a decision. He wants to see a picture, and wants to pay the extra money - fine. He has apparently found an agency on the East coast that has reasonable fees with a few donors that meet our requirements. He showed me the profile of his top pick = 5'8", fair skinned, thin, young, college student, willing to travel for a cycle, and the all important 100% Italian. I don't think her essay questions were very detailed, but he is going back to the agency to get further clarification on a few points. I sent an email today to our DE coordinator at our clinic to find out the next step. Do we fly this girl out for a couple of days to have her fully screened, or does my clinic send a list of the tests she needs to have done to the agency, and she goes to a doctor or lab out there? We shall see.

Wow, Good for him. It's a major step to make that first decision. Even if she's not "the one" the fact that he decided something is huge. My first ended up not being "the one". I found deciding the second time (on a donor))to be much easier.

At my clinic they require all outside donors to go through their medical screening in person. Also all monitoring for the IVF cycle had to be done in person (and I had to pay for a second person to travel with her). The agency took care of the genetic and psych screening.
