The next day Friday, I drove the 5 hours 40 minutes to Chicago arriving just after 12 noon. R helped me unpack my car and then we went to the awesome outdoor mall; had lunch at Panera Bread, and then did some shopping. We had a great time together. Friday night we went to dinner with Tarzan and had fun hanging out. We did another insem at bed-time.
Saturday morning we took R to downtown Chicago and walked up and down Michigan Ave. I tried on an extremely expensive, but totally hot pair of Cole Haan shoes (see here), and flirted with the gay salesman - it was so funny. I didn't buy them of course because $200 for a pair of shoes is not in the budget. LOL. It was a fun morning, but it was really hot out (above 90) so I was wilting. We did have a bit of stress getting R to the airport in time, and Tarzan and I got into a little tiff in the car resulting in some awkwardness (I stopped talking to Tarzan), but R did a great job of trying to overcome the tension in the car and kept talking. LOL. We got her to the airport on time and then I let Tarzan have it in the car afterwards. We made up about an hour later and it was all fine.
It was a great weekend with R - we are very comfortable around her and our fingers are crossed that our timing was perfect. I'm a little worried that we may have been just a few hours late, but we shall see. At this point I'm so used to being an infertile and thinking nothing ever works that I'll just be happily surprised if/when we get her pregnant.
I ended up driving back to Michigan yesterday instead of staying the entire week for a couple of reasons; 1) my cat Guido is very sick again and I just could not leave him for a week. He's on a hunger strike since his pancreatitis has spread to his stomach and is now some other "itis". If he doesn't eat soon he will be force fed with a tube at the vet which I'm sure will cost way too much money, but otherwise he'll die. He was a 19 pound obese cat and he's down to 13 pounds in the last 8 weeks. He's on a pill to prevent him from vomiting, but it has made him not want to eat at all, so no more of that med for him. The other reason I came home is that we supposedly have 2 showings on our house this week and I had to get the nasty showers cleaned. My friend Michelle came over today and helped me clean them. One of the potential showings is for a renter (3 years for a Volkswagen expat family), and the other showing is a buyer. Hopefully something happens soon with this house so that my husband and I can live together.

I'm glad they managed that first night. Rebecca was certainly meant to be in your life if she's handling T and his persnicity-ness with such grace. ;-)
Thinking about you every day, Kelly. Something has to give with the housing situation sooner or later. Hang on tightly.
I like the shoes and you and Rebecca looked like you were having fun. Glad everything went well. I feel so bad about Guido. Poor baby! I hope he feels better soon.
