I'm a March Madness Widow

Now that hubby is home, and was off from work today, college basketball is playing on the TV ALL DAY LONG. In fact he just shouted at the tv...not sure what game is playing right now. He often talks to the TV, laughs at it and makes all sorts of comments when sports are playing. I like basketball if certain teams are playing, but to watch all of these schools I've never heard of, no thanks. I think I'll do some reading tonight, I'm half way through The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet - good read.

The snow finally started although it looks like we will escape the brunt of it. Just 15 miles south of us they are getting clobbered with about 10 inches. I think we'll end up with only 2 - whew! It should melt by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I made the bailey's cake today and it looks good, although not quite as pretty as that picture I posted a few days ago. One thing I think I'll do differently next time is skip the water in the glaze. I think the glaze would've been better with just butter, sugar and the bailey's. I also think I'll put less bailey's in the glaze - it tastes too much like baileys. My friend's version last weekend didn't taste so strong. Also for a thicker glaze I think I will put in powdered sugar and use the electric beater on it. I haven't tasted the cake yet since I'm taking it to dinner at my sister's house tomorrow afternoon, but I'm guessing it will be very moist. I poked a lot of holes in it so it could soak up the glaze. I actually have to make the same cake again tomorrow because I'm taking it to my in-laws on Sunday, so I'll make my adjustments for cake version 2.

Looks like I have several new readers! Welcome gals.

Pillars of the earth is such a good book - I remember reading it several years ago and I read it like three times in row. My husband also has the basketball on constantly right now. I don't get excited unless there is a 15 seed beating a 2 or something.

I totally know what it feels like to be a basketball widow. And a golf widow. It doesn't help that the Rockets have won something like an absurd 21 or 22 games in a row. Only fuels the fire.

Cake sounds delicious.

You'll have to make cake number 3 and bring it over to my house LOL! I'm not that far and all! My husband is more of a football than a basketball guy - but my sympathies to you. My husband has been stuck watching chick flicks with me all weekend since I've been on the three day bedrest post transfer..but I should be off that today yay! Hope you have fun at the fam's.
