We just got off of our skype with AB from Iowa. I think it went great. We had some technical difficulties at first because she could hear us, but we couldn't hear her. Apparently her microphone wasn't working, so we ended up calling her on the phone and then seeing her on Skype. Then apparently Tony and I were too close to the webcam and all she was seeing was our eyeballs - haha. Oh and I definitely need to ditch my Vonage phone. I cannot wait to get rid of it - it clicked and beeped in her ear the entire time and cut out what we were saying. Once I move to Chicago that phone service is going buh-bye.
Anyway, our conversation went well. We were all kind of nervous, well more AB and I. Tony doesn't seem to get nervous about much. Tony did a lot of the talking which is fine because he hasn't been involved in our emails at all. He's browsed them a little bit. We met her husband and her 2 year old daughter who is cute as a button. She's blonde, blue eyed and was singing into the computer and making funny faces. It was too cute. We told AB that she is our front runner and she said the same about us. We were supposed to skype with AA in Oregon today, but she canceled on us. She was up most of the night with her sick daughter, and she didn't think she'd be clear headed enough to skype at 9 AM Pacific time. In the end I guess it's okay because although I really like her a lot, and think we'd have a great relationship, I know the distance between Chicago and Portland would be very inconvenient and expensive.
Our next step with AB is an in-person visit in Iowa the weekend of Dec. 18th. I am going to take the train to Chicago on Friday Dec. 17th, and then Tarzan and I will drive to Iowa on either Sat. the 18th or Sun. the 19th. I think we may be able to seal the deal that weekend, so in the meantime I'm going to start working with AB on the contract and stuff to get that going. Hopefully if this all works out by February we will be able to do our first IUI! God I hope this is the path you have planned for us to become parents!!
