Okay so you already know we got the contract signed on Monday. Tuesday Tarzan and I went to Fort Worth to tour the downtown area, and then visited the Stockyards where we met some real Texans! It was fun to learn about the history of the stockyards and the millions of cows, pigs, sheep and more that made their way through that place starting 100 years ago.

R texted me to confirm the time of our first insem - 8:00 PM. Before I go any further I want to explain that we did and will continue to do if necessary "home inseminations" otherwise known as HIs. We are not going to a doctor for IUIs. However HI does NOT mean that Tarzan and R have sex. I actually had one friend ask me that a couple of weeks ago. Um hello, this is very unconventional, but it's not that unconventional! Now comes the fun part.....
I had asked R the day before where she would be most comfortable doing the HI - at her house, or at our hotel. She said she'd be more comfy doing it at her house and then she could just lay down and go to bed for the night; allowing the sperm to swim to their hearts content and not be affected by gravity if she stood up. Well R's opinion didn't seem to matter when it came within a couple of hours of HI time. Tarzan couldn't bring himself to go to her house because it would have been too weird with her husband there. Never mind that he was going to be in another room with her older boys (5 and 6) and we would be in a private bedroom - do our thing - put it in the syringe and leave. Sigh.
Thankfully I explained this all to R via text and she came to our hotel. The maid had put on brand new bed linens that day, so it was all clean. I went down to the lobby to meet R and get the "kit" from her. I had to sit down with her and vent for 5 minutes because Tarzan's anality was getting to me. He wanted me to practice with the syringe, he wanted me to stay with R (she didn't need any help), and yet he wouldn't drink coffee 3 hours ahead of time per the instructions. Supposedly the caffeine helps the sperm swim faster, but Tarzan opted out because he didn't believe it (in his all omniscience). I was so wishing I was the one with the penis and the sperm, so I could have taken care of things all by myself! Once I calmed down I left R in the lobby and told her I'd call her when we were done. I went back upstairs with the kit - which included a sterile cup and 2 syringes. I practiced with water and lotion with one syringe, and told Tarzan I was ready to go. I had mastered the syringe! LOL. Tarzan got down to business and I successfully transferred all of the liquid gold into the syringe and then placed it on the towel on the nightstand. Tarzan left and immediately went next door to a bar and I told him that I may join him in a few minutes. I called R and told her to come up; she arrived, I showed her where everything was - the syringe, preseed, instead cup, and some roses that we left her. I gave her a hug and told her to have my baby!! haha. I left, joined Tarzan and promptly ordered a glass of wine. I deserved it after that bit of fun!
We had dinner in the smoky bar (they don't have the no smoking rule in Texas), and R called about an hour later. We went back to the room and sat around talking for about 20 minutes. It was a bit more relaxed now that the HI was done. She left and drove home, and we showered the smokiness away and hit the sack as well.
The next day we were scheduled to do another HI at 2pm, and this one had to be done at R's house since her husband would be at work and she has 3 boys. We drove around all morning looking for a new syringe and sterile cup since I somehow cracked the other sterile cup, and we had used up both syringes. I was SOL on the cup, but got some free syringes at Walgreens. We got to R's house and hung out just chatting and playing with her boys for about an hour. We did our thing and this time it was much more relaxed. I took the goods to R and she laid down for an hour in her room. Her 18 month old was napping and Tarzan and I played with the other boys. They are a ball of energy!
After R got up, we actually left Tarzan to babysit the 2 older boys and we went to the mall. We had girl talk, looked at things, but didn't buy, and then had gelato. It was nice for R to get a break from her wild boys. However during the time we were gone - their 4 month old Great Dane puppy got out and was roaming the neighborhood, and her 6 year old managed to get bitten by some fire ants - all on Tarzan's watch. Needless to say he was exhausted by 3 hours of babysitting and fell asleep at 8pm.
The rest of the week we spent visiting my friend in Plano and just touring the area. It was a good trip and we'll find out mid next week if it worked or not. R is going to start POASing (peeing on a stick mom) this Thursday, but we've asked her not to tell us until her period is due. We have nightmares from past POASing and don't want to go there again. I'm going to try to keep myself busy in the meantime and hope for the best. If it doesn't work we may fly R up to Chicago next time to save on Tarzan's vacation time.

I have got to tell you that I am amazed by how far T has come in this whole journey. Is this the man that didn't want any third party/medicinal/drug intervention now handing over his liquid gold in a house in Texas? Smile. As much as he frustrates you (and would me too!) I am amazed by how much he has grown (stretched?) on this journey.
I'm thinking about you. Feeling a bit giddy and nervous over here.
Big hugs to you. Wish I were there so we could pass the time for this 2ww wait over walks and coffees!
Wow! That sounds like it went pretty great considering the potential awkwardness of everything! You and R sound like you get along well! I would be nervous that it would be hard to "hang out" without feeling weird. But it sounds like that wasn't a problem at all! Yay!!
I agree with Erin BTW, about T. But you know I understand the frustration with that kind of thing. But I'm glad she was cool with the change. It shows you guys are a good match for each other!
I cannot wait for next week!!!! You are strong for not wanting to know when she starts this Thursday. I don't think I could hold out. I will be praying so hard though!
