Crazy Week!

Well after such a hiatus from blogging, I'm feeling a little rusty! First of all, nothing new on the fertility front - we are trying on our own this month, and I'm 6 days post ovulation, so we'll see, but I'm not expecting a miracle. I also don't have anything profound to say in this blog, I'm too tired this time of year for any amazing thoughts.

My husband is in Minneapolis working, he had to go to the airport last Friday directly from the office, no suitcase, not toothbrush, nada....for some work emergency. He had to go buy clothes at Walmart.....he said to me, wow I can see why people shop at Walmart, everything is so cheap. I was cracking up. He's been working around the clock to solve whatever quality problem he needs to solve, and he should be home tonight! Yippeee!

He'll be home just in time to finish his Christmas shopping (for me and his sister!) and help me get the house ready. We are hosting Christmas Day dinner this year. Of course I don't have all of my china place settings, we have 3 complete settings (and I just ordered 2 more which will be delivered in time), and we have 1 partial setting. So everyone else will be getting regular dishes, but oh well! We got so many gifts at our showers and our wedding, but not much of our china!

Last weekend was interesting. My sister, her 3 kids and I drove to Cleveland to visit our father and step mother. It was our Christmas Celebration with him. We had a great time on Saturday - a nice dinner, the kids enjoyed opening presents, and we also visited with my step sister and her family who live 2 doors down. Of course the weather was atrocious and we went to bed planning on staying in Cleveland until Monday rather than driving home on Sunday in the blizzard. Well something funny (now it's funny, at the time it wasn't) happened and we got our wires crossed with our father. We woke up on Sunday and felt like he was pushing us out of the house saying things like "Oh you'll be fine, if you leave right after breakfast you'll be just fine"....."The weatherman is probably wrong (it wasn't snowing yet in Cleveland, it was just raining), the snow isn't bad"......"I would leave now, it's not going to get bad until about 4pm (uh that's in Cleveland dad, it's already bad in Michigan.....um they are reporting from Troy, MI on the Weather Channel". We were feeling rather unwelcome, so we left and hit snow within 30 minutes of leaving his house. We were so pissed off at him and every time he called our cell phones we told him how bad the drive was, we took pictures with our cell phones so we could show him that the weatherman was right. So half way through the drive he called and asked if he had said something to make us leave? I'm like "yeah you sure did dad, we felt very unwelcome!".......so to make a long story not so long - he started crying, felt really bad and explained that he didn't want us to leave......he had heard Blaire (my niece) saying she wanted to leave so she could get some stuff done for school and so he was responding to that (and I apparently was in the shower when this conversation happened). He was so upset with himself for letting us drive home in that blizzard.....it took us 6 hours and we saw plenty of accidents. However by the next day it was all really funny. I told my dad that next time I think we are getting our wires crossed I will speak up and say something.....before someone gets in a car in a blizzard. ha ha.

Thank God you made it home safely! It was nasty last weekend. It's also great to hear from you. I know it's a busy time of year, but I've missed you.

Good luck this cycle. Miracles happen, ya know?
