Next Step = Contract
The next step in our surrogacy journey is to get a contract written, signed and notarized. We basically have a draft of it all ready to go because thankfully R had a template that she liked. I made a few changes to it, but nothing major. Now we just have to find lawyers. R has one in mind in Texas, and Tarzan has been interviewing lawyers all week. One thing we have to decide is whether to get a lawyer in Michigan or Illinois which goes back to the whole - are we moving to IL, or is Tarzan going to get a transfer or a new job in MI and move back home? I don't think we will know in a few days because decisions are very difficult and painstakingly slow for Tarzan. However we are going to have to pick a state and a lawyer for the purpose of the contract and then amend it to another state if necessary a few months down the line. After we agree the contract, then R and Tarzan will get some medical tests done, and we'll be ready to start. If all goes well we will start insemination attempts in April. If things take a little longer than it will be May. Either way, it's just around the corner.

Can you maintain "residency" in MI since you'll still own property there and will just rent in IL?
This makes me happy!
