I created this blog so that I can write down all of my thoughts and feelings regarding my life. At the present time, my quest to have a baby is what is consuming my life......so for starters this blog will chronicle all that is happening on the "trying to conceive" front.
My husband Tony and I have been married for almost 11 months, seems so hard to believe! I can't wait to celebrate our 1st anniversary! We've tried to conceive the entire time but with no success. We started doing testing in May 07. All of my tests came back good - HSG, day 3 bloodwork, progesterone to test for ovulation, etc. However I am 39, so time is against us. My husband had 2 semen analyses, both of which showed low sperm count and very poor morphology. Unfortunately the doctors haven't given us any sure ways to improve his sperm and so it's been very frustrating.
In August, we found a great fertilitiy specialist that we both really liked, and he said we could try IUI and maybe it would work. If not we could move onto IVF. Well, my insurance didn't cover that doctor so we had to switch doctors. I can't say that I really like the new guy - he wasn't the friendliest. However, apparently he is one of the best IVF specialists in the world and they also have a top notch embryologist there. Anyway he says that IUI won't work with my husband's sperm issues and that IVF is the way to go. So after 3 long evenings of discussion with my husband, he agreed to move forward with IVF!
On September 25 I received my lupron shot. Now I am supposed to wait until my period starts and then call the office to go in for Day 2 bloodwork. Then I will start on 8-12 days of daily injections of bravelle and menopur which will stimulate my eggs. We should be doing the egg retrieval sometime around mid to late October!
So this blog will be my way of keeping track of all of my feelings and thoughts throughout this process!
